Description
Creamy country gravy at its best!
Ingredients
2 Tbsp butter (Use unsalted butter; however, if you have salted butter, adjust the amount of salt used in the gravy)
4 tbsp all-purpose flour
2 cups milk(whole-fat milk)
Salt to taste
One Teaspoon of White pepper
or
Half a Teaspoon of black pepper(optional)
Instructions
Step 1: Melt butter in a small pan over low heat.
Step 2: Add flour to pan while you whisk continuously. Once it has a smooth consistency, remove from heat and let it rest for 10 minutes.
Step 3: Return pan to stove and heat over medium to low heat. Add milk gradually while you keep whisking. Let it cook for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Step 4: Season with white pepper or black pepper, according to taste.
Notes
The best part of this white gravy is that you can use it as much as you like and freeze the leftover gravy for later use. Next time you need salad dressing, dripping, or a quick breakfast, reheat it; add a cup of milk if it’s too thick and it’s good to use again.
